GWP Babies & Toddlers Group

The grant funding of this project was to support parent/carers and children in a post social distancing environment, by running Baby and Toddler sessions during school holidays. This gives post-pandemic children some continuity and an ability to engage with older siblings.

“The positive response to running sessions during the summer holidays has exceeded our hopes and expectations, to the extent that we chose to deliver an extra session and repeat a popular sand pit session at the Civic Hall. Over the summer holidays we engaged 90 under 5s in creative play and 60 adults in conversation with like-minded parents and carers.”

“My daughter and I love going to the GWP toddler group. Being a covid baby we both really missed out on groups, so it was refreshing to be able to go to one post social distancing and feel right at home. My toddler loves interacting with the other children and everyone is so welcoming. It’s a lovely friendly environment which we both really value.”

“We really enjoy coming to this friendly group. Having a group that runs during the holidays also helps keep my two boys in the routine of mixing with other children whilst they are not in childcare/nursery. My older son did not play with other children for 9 months during the pandemic as we were shielding, so being able to come to this group really helps improve his confidence and social skills.”

Thank you, Didcot Powerhouse, for funding exciting activities, resources and craft materials, enabling us to hire the sand pit, and for helping us think outside the box for our toddler group. We also appreciate your understanding of our group and what it’s like for a group run by volunteers.
