Powerhouse Chair visits Oxford Creators

Powerhouse grant recipient Oxford Creators has been busy creating, designing and printing some wonderful workbooks which are used by the young people who visit them, each time they attend a session.

Elizabeth Paris, Chair of The Didcot Powerhouse Fund recently paid a personal visit to meet the Oxford Creators team to see first hand the great work that their Powerhouse grant has enabled.

Oxford Creators support and empower children who are at risk of exclusion, on reduced timetables, or are out of school. This helps boost their confidence, improves their physical and mental health and raises their aspirations. This is achieved through the delivery of a high-quality alternative education to the most vulnerable young people of Didcot through fitness sessions in a state-of-the-art gym, talking therapy and employability skills.

Across the 3 secondary schools in Didcot, there are currently 103 children who are at risk of exclusion or who do not attend their school due to anxiety or other complex reasons. Oxford Creators aims to help these children thrive in life and they are also passionate about supporting parents & carers of their clients, through their support group - helping to reduce feelings of isolation and improve the mental health of adults who are struggling to navigate a complex system with their charges. Through outreach work, Oxford Creators provides families with a positive community to connect with, and signposts them to other helpful services within Oxfordshire.
